This portrait was formed in a particular situation. Everything- the look, the scale, the pose and the expression including the handling of the torso and lack of resolution of part of the body came in and of the moment with artist and sitter. It was an intuitive and clear engagement in a particular place and time with a connection that controlled the decisions and aesthetic of the piece.
